Wear gloves to protect hands from injury. |
Work in a group of two when removing and installing the tailgate. |
| 1. | Remove the rear pillar trim.
(Refer to Interior Trim - "Rear Pillar Trim")

| 2. | Disconnect the washer nozzle hose (A) and high mounted stop lamp connector (B).
|
| 3. | Remove the tailgate trim.
(Refer to Tailgate Trim - "Tailgate Trim")
|
| 4. | Using a screwdriver, lift the socket clips (A) up slightly on both ends of the tailgate lifter (B).
|
| 5. | Disconnect the connectors and tailgate wiring harness. |
| 6. | Remove the tailgate assembly (A) after loosening the mounting bolts.
|
| 7. | Install in the reverse order of removal.

Repair procedures Adjustment 1. After loosening the tailgate hinge (A) mounting bolts, adjust the tailgate by moving it up and down, or right and left.
