Repair procedures
Removal
1.
Remove the wheel tire (A).
Tightening torque:
107.9 - 127.5 N·m (11.0 - 13.0 kgf·m, 79.6 - 94.0 lb·ft)

   
Be careful not to damage the wheel nuts when removing the front wheel and tire.
2.
Remove the brake caliper mounting bolts , and then hold the brake caliper assembly (A) with wire.
Tightening torque:
78.4 - 98.0 N·m (8.0 - 10.0 kgf·m, 57.8 - 72.3 lb·ft)

3.
By hammering on a chisel, unlock the driveshaft lock hub nut caulking.

   
If there is screw thread (A) on the end of the nut, unlock the caulking by using a chisel and then loosen the nut to prevent damaging driveshaft screw thread.

4.
Remove the caulking nut from the front axle.
Tightening torque:
274.6 - 294.2 N·m (28.0 - 30.0 kgf·m, 202.5 - 217.0 lb·ft)

   
The driveshaft lock nut must be replaced with new one. When replacing the drive lock hub nut, use only the nut with screw thread (A) on the end.

Tighten the driveshaft lock hub nut to the specified tightening torque, and caulk by using a chisel and hammer.
If there are two key seats, perform on all two seats.
Caulking depth (A) : 1.5 mm (0.0591 in)

5.
Loosen the bolt and then remove the wheel speed sensor.
Tightening torque:
6.9 - 10.8 N·m (0.7 - 1.1 kgf·m, 5.1 - 8.0 lb·ft)

6.
Remove the pin and nut from the tie rod end ball joint.
Tightening torque:
24.5 - 34.3 N·m (2.5 - 3.5 kgf·m, 18.1 - 25.3 lb·ft)

7.
Remove the tie rod end ball joint from the knuckle by using the SST (09568-1S100).

8.
Remove the lower arm bolt and nut.
Tightening torque:
58.8 - 70.6 N·m (6.0 - 7.2 kgf·m, 43.4 - 52.1 lb·ft)

9.
Remove the front lower arm from the front knuckle using the SST (0K545-A9100).

After removing bolts from the front knuckle, install and tighten the sub body bolt (A) .

(2)
Input the sub body (B) between the front knuckle and the sub body bolt.
(3)
Tighten the bolt (C) of the sub body to broaden the gap of the front knuckle.

(4)
Install the safe wire.

   
Install a safe wire on the front strut to prevent dropping the SST and injuring technicians.
(5)
Install the main body (A) between the front strut and the lower arm.
(6)
To avoid the main body coming off, install a fixing clamp (B) beside the main body.

(7)
After installing a body, rotate the handle (A) clockwise util the clamp is fixed on the lower arm.

(8)
Tighten the main body bolt (A) slowly and remove the lower arm from the front knuckle.

10.
Using a plastic hammer, disconnect driveshaft from the axle hub.

11.
Insert a pry bar (A) between the transaxle case (B) and joint case (C), and separate the drive shaft (A) from the transaxle case.

   
When using the pry bar, be careful not to damage the transaxle and joint.
Do not insert the pry bar too deep, as this may damage the oil seal.
Do not pull the driveshaft by excessive force as it may cause components inside the joint kit to dislodge resulting in a torn boot or a damaged bearing.
Plug the hole of the transaxle case with the oil seal cap to prevent contamination.
Support the driveshaft properly.
Replace the retainer ring whenever the driveshaft is removed from the transaxle case.
12.
Install in the reverse order of removal.
