Repair procedures
Replacement
1.
Switch "OFF" ignition and disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal.
2.
Remove the battery.
G 1.0 MPI (Refer to Engine Electrical System - "Battery")
G 1.2 MPI (Refer to Engine Electrical System - "Battery")
3.
Remove the brake fluid level sensor connector

4.
Remove the brake fluid from the master cylinder reservoir with a syringe.
   
Do not spill brake fluid on the vehicle as it may damage the paint. If brake fluid comes in contact with the paint, wash off immediately with water.
5.
Remove the wheel tire (A).
Tightening torque:
107.9 - 127.5 N·m (11.0 - 13.0 kgf·m, 79.6 - 94.0 lb·ft)

   
Be careful not to damage the wheel nuts when removing the front wheel and tire.
6.
Remove the rear shock absorber cover.

7.
Remove the rear shock absorber cover.

8.
Remove the rear shock absorber nut by using the special tool (09546-3X100)
Tightening torque :
21.6 - 31.4 N·m (2.2 - 3.2 kgf·m, 15.9 - 23.1 lb·ft)

9.
Loosen the bolt and then remove the rear shock absorber.
Tightening torque:
98.0 - 117.6 N·m (10.0 - 12.0 kgf·m, 72.3 - 86.7 lb·ft)

   
Set up the transmission jack under the torsion beam in order to remove the shock absorber in no-load condition.
10.
Remove the rear caliper.
(Refer to Brake System - "Rear Disc Brake")
(Refer to Brake System - "Rear Drum Brake")
11.
Remove the rear hub assembly.
(Refer to Driveshaft and axle - "Rear hub - Carrier")
12.
Remove the brake tube bracket bolt.

13.
Loosen the flaer nut (A) and hose clip (B) from the rear torsion beam axle.

14.
Loosen the rear torsion beam axle nut and then remove the torsion beam axle.
Tightening torque:
98.0 - 117.6 N·m (10.0 - 12.0 kgf·m, 72.3 - 86.7 lb·ft)

15.
Install in the reverse order of removal.
16.
After installation, bleed the brake system.
(Refer to Brake system - "Brake System")
