Kia Picanto (JA): Features of your vehicle / Rearview camera
The rearview camera will activate when the back-up light is ON with the ignition switch ON and the shift lever in the R (Reverse) position.
This system is a supplemental system that shows behind the vehicle through the navigation display while backingup.
WARNING
- This system is a supplementary function only. It is the responsibility of the driver to always check the inside/outside rearview mirror and the area behind the vehicle before and while backing up because there is a dead zone that can't be seen through the camera.
- Always keep the camera lens clean. If lens is covered with foreign matter, the camera may not operate normally.
If you don’t hear an audible warning sound or if the buzzer sounds intermittently when shifting the gear to the R (Reverse) position, this may indicate a malfunction in the rear parking assist system.
Battery saver function The purpose of this feature is to prevent the battery from being discharged. The system automatically turns off the parking lights when the driver removes the ignition key (smart key: turns off the engine) and opens the driver-side door.

Repair procedures Inspection 1.Check for continuity between the terminals. If there is an abnormality, replace the switch. Removal • When removing with a flat-tip screwdriver or remover, wrap protective tape around the tools to prevent damage to components.

Repair procedures Smart Key Smart Key Code Saving 1. Connect the DLC cable of KDS/GDS to the data link connector (16 pins) in driver side crash pad lower panel, turn the power on KDS/GDS. 2. Select the vehicle model and then do "Smart key code saving".
